Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an established, recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural integrity of the body. It uses many diagnostic procedures used in conventional medical assessment and diagnosis. Its main strength however, lies in the unique way the patient is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural standpoint and the manual methods of treatment applied to suit the needs of the individual patient.

Osteopaths use their hands to investigate the underlying causes of pain and to carry out treatment using a variety of gentle manual techniques to ease pain, reduce swelling and improving mobility. These may include muscle and connective tissue stretching, rhythmic joint movements and manipulation which may result in an audible ‘click’ which is simply the sound of gas bubbles popping in the fluid of the joints. Gentle releasing techniques are also used, particularly when treating children or elderly patients. Osteopathy is a safe, effective, integrated approach to the treatment of a wide variety of conditions, including all of the following;

Back and neck pain  -  Muscle aches & joint pain  -  Trapped nerves

Headache & migraine  -  Arthritis & mobility problems  -  Posture-related conditions

Whiplash injuries  -  Work-related conditions & RSI  -  Sports & dance injuries

Ankle, foot, hip and knee problems  -  Shoulder injuries
